Team building has an infinite number of options. Given that no two teams are alike, no two workshops are alike. After working with hundreds of teams, I've noticed that even teams labeled 'toxic' can turnaround fairly easily given the right workshop environment. The most effective team building workshops are highly engaging and experiential in nature. Why? Because they simulate the same dynamics that happen in the workplace, but in a conducive environment where they can be debriefed safely and skillfully.
These interactive learning labs use adult education techniques and are especially effective with those that are visual or kinesthetic in nature (as most of our population is). People don't necessarily remember theory, but they do remember activities, especially if success in working relationships were embodied during the exercise.
